  • A great reference for people trying to comprehend how any of this could have happened, is available on YT's Live Abuse Free channel. The proprietor has done extensive research on all forms of narcissism and has helped countless survivors of narcissistic abuse. She provides deep insight into the deceptive nature of Chris Watts and how a loving, empathetic person like Shannan could have been fooled into believing he was a good person. Many of us have had to live through the nightmare of narcissistic abuse and have spent years trying to come to terms with the nightmare it is, but none have suffered from it as much as the Rzucek family. They deserve all the love and healing we can send them.

Decades from now, this story will be shown as benchmark on how society did not even acknowledge that men could be in an abusive relationship and how it affected their mental health.

  • There's nothing about this entire "episode" that required am official Netflix documentary be made. Absolutely everything has already been out there in the world, even compiled in separate ISpast presentations of all combinations and depths, using all aspects of the same officially released footage from police bodycams to local News reports and interrogation tapes. The Netflix documentary was just one more version of the same thing, somebody else putting together their own clips in their own personal arrangement in order to make their own version, albeit with a somewhat higher production value than most of the others. But, it's not like it revealed any previously unknown facts or information about the case in any way, and so what I'm really saying is I hope nobody bought a subscription to Netflix JUST to be able to see "The Family Next Door" lol because it's all stuff that's available already for free on ISpast. 🤣

  • 👩‍💻 I have been following this tragic story since a little bit before his sentencing. There is this text that is important, then someone will make another text important, and all that back and for was confusing. The writers of this documentary took all the texts put them in order and presented the texts in CONTEXT of the events surrounding each text. For me at least, there was a solid time-line and the texts made sense in terms of evidence for the prosecution. This documentary went surgically to the point and supported the texts with other gathered evidence. I came away with a solid idea of what went on, and where all the actors were, their entrances and exits during the plot and tying all the loose ends together for that time period. Very, very interesting, thank you; I appreciate your excellence work. Much love and peace. 🙋‍♀️🖖🥰😷

  • Guys I want to just say, no matter what your beliefs are, the Evil Eye IS REAL We should be mindful about sharing all of our happiness for all of the world to see. Sadly, Shanann's job involved her being socially active and sharing posts on social media. I think she was such a great gem of a person. But remember the evil eye is real folks. People become jealous, as we are only human, and also people start to have severe envy and jealousy and it can impact one's happiness! Be thankful, yes but don't share everything with the world. The reason why that evil cow Nichole Kissinger knew of Shanann and Chris was through social media, as there's proof innher google searches. Then she decides to work where that evil bastard narcissist worked and she slowly crept into their life like the Devil himself. And in the end, there are 4 beautiful souls that we have lost, Shanann, her beautiful daughters Bella and Cece, and her unborn son Niko. God bless their souls and reunite her with all her true family and friends in the everlasting gardens of paradise.

  • Why did you make a documentary about this tragedy, pretending to expose the truth, when you do not discuss the multi level marketing that dominated her and her family’s life and totally misrepresent Shannon’s Facebook feed? I understand the desire to tell Shannan’s story the way the family might want it portrayed but this is not comparable with the truth. Talk about ‘having one’s personality erased’. There is an important discussion that needs to be had about these pyramid scheme scams that manipulate and mine wealth from middle American families trying to make a go of it.

  • I know that feeling of relating to Shanann. I cant even say how many parallels I shared with her. It was eerie at first, but made me cherish my kids, my own life even more. The house was almost the exact same as mine when my 2 daughters were 2 and 4. My kids could've been their twins! My little one, blonde and wild. My 4 yr old, soft brown curls, quiet, sweet. My EX-husband was Chris to a T. He looked like him, was a people pleaser, needed constant praise. He even jumped me, after cheating for a while, and choked me til I passed out. It never happened once before that. We argued, never got physical before. That's when our similarities diverged. I woke up. I grabbed my kids from their beds, and left. I got divorced. My girls grew up. He did go to prison, but is out now (He did call before the divorce and apologize..saying he's better, wants to work it out, and wants a SON...weird) I haven't seen him in at least 10 yrs. This story is so sad, but to me, incredibly scary! Even my photos of my girls little make me think of Bella and CeCe. It makes me think what they could look like as teenagers. It's such a waste.

  • The director makes such a great point about the victim blaming. It always baffles me that people who’ve never met someone can come to these definitive observations that they just know are correct. The explanation that they need to find a reason that they can say “it won’t happen to me because I’m not like her” makes so much sense.

  • The same lack of awareness that Shannon might have had of her husbands state of mind, is the same, that I hear in your explanation of the people, have of blaming her, the fact the you are calling the them throlls, shows such total lack of objectivity and credibility, to empower you think is an enlightened documentary. Please do no qualify this as a great documentary. It is not. This is or should be a docuresearch resource shelved in an archived and studied for future families on the web. Also a social artefact as a why on how not or too live our lives publicly through social media. This is no different than any other program of the watts murders out there. I say this for one particular reason. What is the one salient and succinct lesson has this taught the would in general? Nothing, except that you can create a full length documentary from single shots! No, I see self adulation.

    • Actually the filmmaker hit the nail on the head. Read up about victim blaming. If you think a person's actions are justified or could result to their murder this says a lot about your moral compass. You probs think if a girls drunk 'she's asking to get raped' and should share the blame like you clearly think Shanann should. It's clear that you can't fix stupid. Hope nothing tragic happens to you as I bet there's a whole lot of nasty from you that people would use to justify why it happened and you only have yourself to blame.

His tv interview alone with his smirk and chuckle saying he wants his family back while shaking his head no was a dead giveaway that he did it! Not to mention he talked about his daughter in a past tense~WAS supposed to start school~not is supposed to start school! Now he is in prison Bible thumping trying to manipulate his way to freedom but not living the Bible! Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing! Don’t be manipulated by a psychopath locked up for murdering his entire family by blaming the victims or the victims family! • I only heard about the murders last year. A few months after the murders. I wanted to get to know Shan'nan at that time. By watching her videos, looking through photos, reading her FB post. I got so lost in her story, I would forget that she was no longer alive. I would cry all over again. Then I would read people's comments below her post. Saying she was a controlling b****, if she had treated him better he wouldn't have killed them. She deserved what he did to her. I was angry, heartbroken and crushed. Her husband murders her and their children and she was being blamed😢 Chris Watts did the UNTHINKABLE by strangling his wife and smothering their two daughters, who loved him so very much. He was, however, getting a pass though the eyes of so many people. So, I thought ok, I want to see that she was a bad wife and a horrible mother. I dug deeper, I saw nothing but a smiling seemingly happy woman that loved her family.. She didn't seem to be a control freak, by any standards. She seemed to be proud of her husband. Giving him praise for staying with her through her illnesses. She was a loving mother, seemed she was never too far from her two little girls, and was ecstatic to be having Chris's son. I am so glad someone is standing up for Shan'nan, Bella, Cee Car and baby Nico. They deserve to be heard. Thank you so much for standing up for them.❤

    • @Humble HS You should see her latest video ...its 4 or 5 hours long but just watch the beginning for 20 mins ...if ever there was a narcissist that is it! She's absolutely vile and delusional ...I couldn't believe she's a mother!

    • I heard critical Kay joking and laughing hysterically describing Shannan’s tongue hanging out of her mouth in the grave I actually heard it and could not believe there were such vile women walking this earth let alone with followers and other women laughing with her

  • Annoying, controlling whatever BS edulcorating excuse you asign to Chris to justify his atrocities is just that: COMPLETE AND UTTER BU11SHIT. He killed her, and his 3 children. He's a disgusting narcissistic coward and I can only hope someone in prison is the vessel for karmic retribution. There's no excuse for this. Any of you justifying this, is more revealing of your character, or lack thereof, than anyone else. You have fooled yourself into believing that you are so much better than ShanAnn, that if he was with you, his vile narcissistic core wouldn't have surfaced. Youre not special. Get over yourself. He'd have committed this against you too and someone just as vile, shallow and shitty as you, would justify your murder as well.

  • This was the most disappointing documentary I've ever seen. There was absolutely nothing in this documentary that we didn't already know. It was like rewatching the story for the millionth time.

  • The footage of the children broke my heart. In other cases, we see pictures. Here, they’re bought to life. All cases are tragic, but this one struck hard.

  • Excellent documentary. Appreciated the way the story was developed with more of Shan’ann’s story. One of the biggest influences seemed to be the negativity that his mother brought into their relationship and that he allowed to make a place for. That ruins so many relationships. Some people have the unfortunate situation of having family where no matter how great their partner it means nothing. No one is ever good enough for their kid, even their own grandchildren from that union. Ultimately he made the terrible choice to do what he did. But he was obviously quite taken with Shan’ann. How could he not? Among many appealing qualities she was beautiful, charming and strong. He only knows what exactly he was thinking. But he did allow doubts to fester and what could have been just a passing attraction to lead him to commit the unthinkable.
